End of the Year

December 16, 2020

Strawberry and Vascular health??

What is it about coming to the end of a year, month, or week that makes us think we have to wait until the beginning of of the next to start taking better of ourselves. There are 15 days left in this year. We have 15 days to start a new habit. Turn now to walk away from a bad habits. This is the best time of year to cook some amazing healthy foods. Get started learning a new activity that gets us moving.

Have you stopped to thank how you might want your life to look like? Could health issues be keeping you from reaching a goal. Is it physical health, mental health, or financial health? As you grow in one area you will grow some in all areas. Let’s start setting some goals in physical health. Food is how we will start. We can set you up an a eating plan, but I want to educate you on how food really helps your body.

With us being a Vascular Center lets look how food is good for our blood. Strawberries are a simple food that has many benefits. Iron-if you become anemic your body can start producing smaller then normal and decreased amounts of red blood cells. Red blood cells are responsible for carrying and delivering oxygen throughout the body. Antioxidants- may prevent cellular damage by reducing reactive oxygen species overproduction or interfering in reaction that involves ROS. Vitamin C – has been shown to improve Nitric oxide production of the endothelium, which in turn increases vasodilation reducing blood pressure. Vitamin K2 – is associated with the inhibition of arterial calcification and arterial stiffening. An adequate intake of Vit K2 has been shown to lower the risk of vascular damage because it activates matrix GLA protein, which the deposit of calcium on the walls. Polyphendic compound – Tannin are compounds found in foods such as tea, coffee, cocoa, olive oil, and red wine have been studied to determine if there intake may modify cardiovascular disease.

See how simple eating can make a big difference in your health.
